New and favorite toy shops around Irvine

Toys and games account for a huge percentage of holiday gifts – and for so many reasons. They provide entertainment and developmental benefits; they foster creativity, imagination and social skills. Here are three new Irvine spots whose offerings check all the boxes.
Rolife at Irvine Spectrum Center combines creativity and craftsmanship, artistry and play, via premium do-it-yourself miniature houses, collectible plush character dolls, intricate three-dimensional wooden puzzles, themed book nook shelf inserts and mechanical assembly models. Recent arrivals include the Suri’s Magic Princess figure with starlight skirt and iridescent scepter, Super Creator miniature Hong Kong Bites Cafe plus a Rowood Flower Puzzle Wooden Blooming Book.
Kouhigh Toys (pronounced co-high) at University Center was founded by a group of young Asian toy enthusiasts. Their dream: “To bring surprise and creativity into the world of collectibles (through) toy experiences that spark joy and build emotional connections.” Those experiences include “blind box” toys and mystery figures, kawaii (i.e. adorable Japanese) plushies and collaborative designer art toys. Brand partners include Rolife and Tokidoki.
The Game Chest – a mom-owned business offering toys, collectibles and board games for all ages – has moved from Irvine Spectrum Center to Alton Square. Favorites among the tabletops include classic Monopoly and the new card-driven Wingspan, featuring 180 birds.
