Resident Perspectives

“I’ve lived in Irvine for 30 years and fully support the plan to convert privately owned fairways with public meadows and woodlands that everyone can enjoy.”

Tim C.

“A nature park at this location would provide families with a wonderful environment where children can safely enjoy the outdoors, learn about nature and spend quality time with their families.”

Ryan L.

“The planned park and tie-in to the Jeffrey Open Space Trail would continue Irvine’s great tradition of providing something so needed in our complex world: a place to touch nature and remember our place in it.”

Sheila G.

“I’m so excited to be able to ride from my house to Hicks Canyon Trail, to Jeffrey Open Space Trail, over the future I-5 pedestrian bridge and to this Nature Park off the roads completely.”

Trevor C.

Irvine has always been a city that thinks ahead, and I believe this is one of those moments. I’d love to see the Oak Creek Golf Club reimagined as a nature park, a space that any resident can enjoy freely.

Kimberly G.

I can visualize a day when residents can walk or bike ride from the northeast of our city using the JOST, stopping at a Nature Park, and then possibly connecting to the San Joaquin trails in order to arrive at the Pacific Ocean!

Completing the Jeffrey Open Space Trail
with the New Nature Park

The nature park and planned bridges would complete the Jeffrey Open Space Trail – connecting residents from Limestone Canyon, through the heart of the city, to Quail Hill Open Space Preserve.

Questions & Answers

The nature park would anchor a lower-density village featuring a new public school. This balance of public open space and a new village aligns with Irvine’s traditional master planning principles and serves as a model for addressing state housing mandates.

Jeffrey Open Space Trail is envisioned to provide safe and uninterrupted pathways through central Irvine, connecting the city’s northern and southern nature preserves. This vision is taking a major step forward with the construction of a new bridge spanning I-5. However, once over I-5, the trail will be constrained by infrastructure, railroad tracks and a six-lane roadway. In addition to city plans, the trail could be routed into the new nature park and new bridges could enhance safety for pedestrians and cyclists through central Irvine.

Irvine Company has partnered with acclaimed park planners Jenny Rigby of The Acorn Group and Sean O’Malley of SWA, who have facilitated workshops, lead tours and conducted surveys to turn your ideas into a shared plan.

Park and trail planning will be completed prior to consideration of a future residential village.
