Mocktails for dry January: Zero-proof and handcrafted

A healthful start to the New Year might include forgoing alcohol, but that does not mean dialing down on flavor or style. At least not at these three spots.

Mocktails at new Mastro’s Ocean Club incorporate Lyre’s booze-free spirits in its gin-like No Side Sipping and tequila-inspired You Mango Me Hot! Three drinks that are available only in January use Lyre’s Dry London: the Sea Salt N Caramel Espresso No-tini; the lemony French 6’7; and the Immunity Boost with Tres Agave, golden turmeric and ginger beer.

Puesto bar and spirits head Beau de Bois offers a sophisticated passion fruit margarita with organic agave nectar and the cantarito with orange cordial and Jarritos grapefruit soda. Both are crafted with Puesto’s own zero-proof tequila alternative. BERO brews – that’s beer + zero – include the Double Tasty West Coast Style IPA. A michelada mixes NA Corona and house-made clamato.

The Market Place

Lazy Dog Restaurant’s Dry January brings several new handcrafted mocktails. The Cold Brew Carajillo blends overnight cold brew and vanilla-orange syrup. Citrus foam tops the Pomegranate Sour Fauxtini. The Strawberry Jalapeño Mockarita features house-made zero-proof mezcal, its namesake ingredients, agave sweet-and-sour and a chamoy-salt rim.
