Luna Landing: New Luna Grill at Irvine Spectrum Center

Luna Grill founders Sean and Maria Pourteymour dreamed of opening a restaurant that offers the kind of healthful and delicious food choices they’d want to serve their two young daughters.
Fast forward two decades, and more than 50 locations now include an airy and attractive Luna Grill Mediterranean Kitchen near the Regal theaters at Irvine Spectrum Center. It’s the third location in Irvine.
Winning design includes woven hanging pendant lights, stylishly illuminated inset wall arches and a tasteful trim of greenery.
Menu options range from falafel to 12-hour-marinated flame-grilled kabobs. Start with the Lunatic Sampler of falafel, rice-stuffed grape leaves, the couscous medley, original or spicy harissa hummus and pita bread.
Among fan favorites are the bistro beef kabob, garlic bonfire shrimp plate and modern Greek salad. Considering the Cali pita wrap? Opt for hand-carved gyro meat and creamy harissa sauce.
The star of the build-your-own offerings is the Medi Macro Bowl, which aims to balance high protein, high fiber, healthy fats and whole grains. Family meals for four or six feature your choice of kabobs – among them flat-cut chicken, shrimp and grass-fed koobideh – plus seasonal veggie, basmati rice, salad and pita bread plus hummus or sauce.
