Leave the car at home: Irvine’s apartment-convenient restaurants

Fresh air, no traffic and a modicum of exercise. One of the wonderful things about Irvine is that many of its apartments are within walking distance from some of its most enjoyable restaurants.
University Center is about a minute from Town Center Apartment Homes, which makes breakfast at Breakfast Republic – shrimp and grits, half a dozen benedicts – one of life’s easier pleasures. Creative burgers at Eureka! are another.
Best time of day for Chinese dumplings? It could be brunch. Tenants at the new Colonnade at The Market Place are steps from enjoying the five-color steamed combo at JA Jiaozi. Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream is another treat that faces the center’s new community park.
Los Olivos at Irvine Spectrum apartments are less than a half-mile from Los Olivos Marketplace, where diners can find Mexico City-inspired tacos – blue-corn tortillas, crispy melted cheese, elevated toppings – and guacamoles at Puesto. Korean destination So Gong Dong Tofu is new.
The Village at Irvine Spectrum is less than a half-mile to Irvine Spectrum Center. Consider a glass of wine at Cal-Italian destination Cucina Enoteca or a generous cocktail and live music in the bar/lounge at luxe new Mastro’s Ocean Club – no need to drive home.
The mezze platter, Moroccan salmon salad and lamb burger might inspire the 10-minute walk from Orchard Hills Apartment Homes to much-lauded Zov’s at Orchard Hills Shopping Center. Lovely Nara Thai Kitchen is three doors down.
