‘Doll Zoo’ Streetwear: New 13De Marzo

Paris-founded, Chinese-designed fashion brand 13De Marzo, known for its “doll zoo” concept, has opened its first U.S. location at Irvine Spectrum Center.

The avant-garde concept’s streetwear styles combine detachable 3D plush animals – mostly bears and rabbits – with jackets, jeans, knitwear, hoodies and accessories such as hats and bags.

How huge is 13De Marzo?

Consider a sampling of its key collaborations. They include global giants Coca-Cola, featuring teddy bear graphics on denim jackets and T-shirts; Sanrio, with Hello Kitty and Kuromi on fur coats and knit tops; Sesame Street’s Cookie Monster and Elmo on varsity jackets and sweaters; and Looney Tunes’ Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck on denim skirts and knit cardigans.

There’s also a magical Harry Potter street-style collection, an astronaut-themed NASA collection and even a Thermos lifestyle collection of insulated cups and jars.

The brand’s mascot is a futuristic space bear named Marzo who originates from a city 13 light-years away.

Twenty-three of 13De Marzo’s 28 stores are in China; others now include Melbourne in Australia and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. Find its closer-to-home boutique adjacent to the upcoming Italian-built Ferris wheel at Spectrum Center.
